What I teach

Mathematics
Early number sense and fractions, right through the senior-high streams to Math 31 calculus. Trouble in a higher grade usually traces back to a gap in a lower one, so that's where I start looking.

Most tutoring happens over a screen, or asks your family to drive across town for it. I do neither, and it shows in how students progress.
Qualified in the hard subjects
Two university degrees behind every lesson: a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.Comm. in Operations Management. Years of university math and physics mean I can explain why a method works, which is what makes it stick.
I come to you
No screen in the way, and no driving across the city after a long day. I bring the lesson to your kitchen table, or to a library close by if that suits your family better.

Tell me about your child through the booking form. It comes straight to me so I can slot you in around my other students and driving time.

An evaluation first
The first session is usually an evaluation so I can see where your child is at. If there's a test next week, we skip that and start preparing right away.

Sessions built around your student
I adjust pace, style, and materials to each student. I've worked across a wide range of ages, grades, and needs, including neurodivergent learners and a student with ASD.

In-home or at your local library
I come to you anywhere in Calgary, or we meet at a library near you, whichever is easier for your family.
Rates
Simple pricing, with a reward for referrals
No packages and no contracts. Just per-hour sessions, plus a thank-you when you send another family my way.

$50 / hour

Referral reward
When you refer a family
$40 / hour × 4 sessions
Refer someone and get $10 off each of your next 4 sessions. That works out to $40 an hour for those four, then back to the standard $50. Refer again and it applies again.

Meet your tutor
I tutor math across every K–12 grade, early reading in the younger years, and senior-high physics. Over that range I've worked with anxious students who needed to slow down and rebuild confidence, confident ones who needed a harder challenge, and students with different learning needs.
Years of engineering coursework mean I've solved these problems under real deadlines myself. When the first explanation doesn't land, I can usually find a second or third way in.

Questions parents ask
What areas of Calgary do you cover?+
Anywhere in Calgary. I come to your home, or we meet at a library near you, whichever is easier for your family.
Do you offer online tutoring?+
No, I teach in person only. Students learn better face to face without a screen in the way, so every session happens at your home or a nearby library.
How does payment work?+
Pay per session by e-transfer or cash, whichever is easier for you.
What's your cancellation policy?+
Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. That lets me plan my route and offer the time to another family.
What happens in the first session?+
Usually an evaluation, so I can see where your child is at and how they learn before planning anything. If there's an urgent test or deadline, we skip that and start preparing right away.
How long is a session, and what does it cost?+
Sessions are typically one hour at $50/hour, with travel to your home included. Longer sessions are no problem by arrangement. Referring another family earns you $10 off your next 4 sessions, so those four run at $40 an hour before the rate returns to $50. Refer again and the discount applies again.
